The Benzene Attack

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Okay so here’s the deal about benzene. If you are the type who is environmental conscious or the kind who practically reads everything that’s listed in the ingredients label of any product before buying it, you know that it is most commonly found in products such as cleaners, detergents, lubricants, and drugs? Here’s a question for you: Do you also know that there’s a connection between benzene and AML? You should since there is a strong link between these two.

Just to increase your knowledge power, AML actually stands for Acute Myelogenous (or Myeloid) Leukemia. It is a form of cancer that attacks white blood cells and has these manifestations in its signs and symptoms list:

• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Increased susceptibility to infection
• Bleeding
• Anemia
• Shortness of Breath
• And oh, in case you are wondering, yes, this illness can kill.

The relationship between benzene and AML (as well as CML and aplastic anemia) is a well-known fact amongst the people in the world of chemistry and related industries. So, if benzene causes AML, why is it still in use? Why is the general public not informed about it?

The answer lies in its usability and the fact that it comes a bit cheaper compared to other chemicals, especially where the cleaning part is concerned. Benzene has been used as cleaners for atv including rhino rollover. You see, benzene is primarily a cleaner and this is why, one of the major culprits of its usage is the oil companies. They use benzene for a variety of reasons particularly as metal degreaser as well as additive to gasoline and petroleum. In so doing, they are exposing their employees to the hazardous product.

Supposedly, the use of benzene is regulated by officials, making sure that the number of people exposed to it is limited. But what do company owners do? They mislead their employees and say that benzene causing AML is just a myth. They say that hey, if it kills, we would’ve been dead by now? We are exposed to benzene everyday, but why are we still here? Aren’t we living proof that it is harmless enough to work with? They say anything just to keep the employees from asking.

What you should ask by now is how can they develop AML when they are not directly exposed to it? Ladies and gentlemen, company owners don’t care if many, if not all, of their employees are exposed to it. As long as they are generating money out of it, they will continue doing it. Never mind the benzene and AML love relationship. Never mind the fact that the chemical kills. Most of all, never mind the people’s lives; as long as they are making money, everything’s good.

Do you desire to buy a whrilpool and call for a bkr loan

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

It doesn’t matter if you live in Columbus Georgia or in Hillsboro Oregon a fine online examination will redeem you often a lot of problems. Check out to see if the merchant bank who is willing to give you a bank loan is good. 12.3 percent interest rate may come out so reasonable but will that be constant after you have to pay back your money loan.

You should be shiny today to investigate if you have a special offer or if you don’t with the bank that offers you a credit loan. At this moment you can check into rates of interest quickly on the internet and cipher if there are other sneaky conditions you should know about. A lot of the banks wil show you a rate of interest that looks fairish but doesn’t feel well or so after some time. That’s the reason why now you really need to check into and visualize if you can have a loan at a honorable percent rate. A moneylender in Independence Montana or so can have a total totally different actual loan rate for a 27500 dollar loan then a moneylender in Grand Forks North Dakota and that makes a immense clear gap in your yearly pay backs.

Uranium Facts For The Natural Resource Investor

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Investing in uranium is looking toward the future. With fossil fuels fizzling out, the world needs reliable sources of energy. The price of uranium has moved surpisingly fast over the last year with the scare of oil and natural gas shortages. Also, analysts report a severe uranium shortage over the next ten years. Lets take a look at what uranium is and how it is/will be used. I have always heard “buy what you know”, so hopefully you will know a little more about uranium after reading.

Uranium can be found abundantly on the planet. Uranium is formed when stars explode, expelling the heavy element. Uranium-238, the most common form of uranium found on earth has a half life of 4.5 billion years, which explains its large quantity (around 99% of the world’s uranium). Uranium-235 makes up a little more then half of the remaining 1%. Uranium-234 makes up small amount left.

The most important form of uranium is uranium-235, which possesses some very useful characteristics. Uranium-235 can undergo “induced-fission”. Induced fission is when a free neutron is used to bombard the element, causing it immediately to destabilize and split. During this reaction a large amount of heat is given off. This heat, through various means, can be harvested into power. This is process is commonly called nuclear fission. Over 400 nuclear fission generators exist in the world today in major countries such as the US, China, Russia and Germany. Nuclear power planys fired up in 1959. The number is growing dramatically as countries are expanding their power grids. Demand for uranium and uranium enrichment increases as more nations decide to add nuclear power to their power creating arsenals.

Discuss with your investment advisor the pros and cons of adding uranium stocks to your portfolio. I have several precious metal and natural resource mining stocks in my portfolio which have done well over the last year. I am definitely going to add a uranium mining company to my list of stocks.

Investing and Understanding What You Buy

“There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action!”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832)

I don’t really know how cars actually work. Not really! I know how to drive them, but if you asked me how they work, I would not really know how to definitely explain it.

That small technical limitation on my part doesn’t stop me from knowing whether XYZ Autos is a quality company or not. I don’t understand the cars they make, but I do understand XYZ Autos. Moreover, that understanding is critical to making a decision about the value of their stock.

There are many good and objective ways to value stocks and improve your finances. These involve looking at various financial ratios. However, one of my simplest rules for investing is that you always must understand what you are buying!

This is by no means original with me. It is a basic part of fundamental analysis!

How deeply you must research in order to understand a company before you invest in it is a rather personal decision!

Some investors feel fine with just a general understanding, while others want to know everything there is to know about the company. I think that somewhere in between is perfect.

But you must know what makes a company different from others and whether that difference adds any real value or not.

Sometimes being different is not good …

Buy what you understand for a reasonable price and you will be well on your way towards successful investing!

9 Survival Tips for the Market Shakeout Blues

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Investors who bought during the top of the frothy commodities rally are now panicking or kicking themselves. Neither activity helps an investor or trader think straight. Below are a few tips for dealing with the current market shakeout.

1. If you believe you invested in the right stock(s), then turn off your computer and do something enjoyable. Exercise is a great stress reliever. The market has already begun its shakeout. If you didn’t get stopped out, or failed to place earlier stops, your best opportunity lays ahead in picking up additional shares at a much lower price. Most of the experts we’ve interviewed tell us the next rally should start sometime between late July and Labor Day. In an attempt to interview the uranium guru James Dines in late May, we were told, “Call back in a couple of months.” That was a helpful clue that the markets were less than exciting. Mr. Dines is often eager to be interviewed, but he was not a few weeks ago.

2. Do you believe the fundamentals which engendered the commodities boom have changed? If they haven’t, then the bullishness is only taking a breather. We don’t see any fundamental change in the markets. Russia still wants nuclear power, and its oil production may be peaking. China hasn’t announced the end of its nuclear expansion program. India wants to spend $40 billion on new nuclear reactors. If you are invested in uranium stocks, spot uranium jumped another dollar to $45/pound this past week. Hardly the end of the bull market.

3. If you worry about your investment in one stock or another, then stop watching the ticker and focus on the company fundamentals. Is the story still true or has it changed? See #7 A, B and C below.

4. There’s an old cliché that the time to buy is when you feel like dumping everything you own in the category. At the exact moment you want to sell your entire portfolio of uranium stocks, it may be wiser to add to your holdings. This applies mainly to the retail investor. Most of the professionals did dump at the top and are now slowly accumulating the shares of the nave who waited until the washout to start selling off.

5. Has a major, earth-shattering event occurred? The last bull cycle in uranium ended with Three Mile Island (TMI). The last decent rally in the precious metals markets fell off a cliff after it was discovered Bre-X Minerals had perpetrated a fraud about its gold ‘discovery’ in Indonesia. Something significant and newsworthy always transpires, and it is also far-reaching. That is the trigger. As with TMI and Bre-X, those were the first shots which launched a later chain reaction to end those bull markets.

6. Before pulling the sell trigger, ask yourself: Do I really want to give up these shares to a bargain basement hunter, who will make a killing on my losses?

7. Since most of you will still panic, please review the following basics for any of the uranium companies you’ve read about:

A) How much cash does the company have in the bank? During shakeouts, cash is king. Prescient companies, which completed their financings during the recent and robust rally, are sitting pretty. They can weather the short-term storm and are well-oiled to move forward when this correction bottoms and reverses. Those companies are the strongest ones to check out when this correction looks gloomiest.

B) Has the management remained the same? Unless the top financial and/or technical people blew out the door, in recent weeks, the story probably hasn’t changed much. Companies which built a strong technical team are resilient and powerful. They will move forward.

C) Have the properties come up dry? One of the reasons you invested in a uranium company was because it announced it had “pounds in the ground.” Some companies have more than others. Some went to the expense and trouble of completing a National Instrument 43-101, which independently confirmed the quantity and quality of the uranium resource. If that changed – and the company announced, “Sorry, nothing there after all,” or announced, “Hey, we were kidding,” that’s one thing. If you haven’t heard that, or read a news release announcing that, then the uranium didn’t walk away or move onto a competitor’s property. It’s still there.

Next time, when the markets are racing higher, and you feel like you won the lottery, consider this bit of biblical advice. The old joke goes, “When did Noah build his ark?” The answer of course is: Before it began to rain.

Part II of Day Traders and Swing Traders and Options? Maybe!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Before every protective put trade it is possible to calculate
your anticipated maximum loss. Use the formula: (stock price
minus strike price) plus option price. For example, suppose you
will pay $30.00 for your stock, and you want no more than a $3.50
loss on the position. Then you would choose the $27.50 strike
put which costs $1.00. Following the formula, you take your
stock price ($30.00) and subtract the put’s strike price (27.50)
which leaves you $2.50. To this $2.50 loss, you then add the
amount you spent on the option ($1.00), which gives you a
combined, maximum loss of $3.50 for this position. You can set
your loss limit by the strike price of the put you buy and the
cost of the put. This formula will work every time. Remember,
stock loss, (stock price paid – strike price), plus option cost
(option price) equals maximum potential position loss.

The protective put strategy, when used correctly, will allow
investors to take advantage of the same opportunities that could
provide large potential gains, but without being exposed to the
extreme risks the position could potentially present. In these
scenarios, the protective put strategy deserves consideration.

For example, a stock in the process of a steep decline would be a
good opportunity to implement a protective put, when trying to
pick a bottom. Quite often, stocks experience bad news or break
down through a technical support level and trade down to seek a
new, lower trading range.

Everyone wants to find the bottom to buy and go long, catching
the technical rebound, or to start accumulating the stock at
lower levels for the longer term.

There is a potential for a very big reward if you pick the
“right” bottom. However, with the big potential gain comes the
big potential loss that is common in these types of risk/reward
scenarios. Here is a perfect opportunity to employ the protective
put strategy! It will provide protection against substantial
loss, while allowing room for potential gains if the stock should
bounce.

Remember, the protective put allows for a large potential upside
with a limited, fixed downside risk. If you feel that the stock
has bottomed out and is starting to consolidate, you purchase the
stock and then purchase the put at the same time as insurance
against further decline in the stock.

If you are right, and the stock runs back up, the stock profit
will well exceed the price paid for the put. Once the stock
trades back up, consolidates, and develops its new trading range,
the need for the protective put is over. At this time, if you
still like the stock and want to hold on to the long position,
you could always start selling calls against it.

Use the formula for maximum loss discussed earlier. Calculate the
loss in the stock and the amount you paid for the put and add
them together for your maximum loss in this position. The
protective put has limited your loss.

Maximum Loss = (Stock Price – Strike Price) + Option Price

This protection will save you enough money when you pick a false
(wrong) bottom that you may, if you like, try to pick the bottom
again at a lower point. The exhaustion scenario, as described
here, is a perfect opportunity to apply the protective put
strategy.

As seen with the exhaustion example, the protective put strategy
is best used in situations where the stock has a potential for an
aggressive upside move and the chance of a big downside move.

Another potential opportunity for using the protective put is in
combination with Technical Analysis. Technical Analysis is the
study of charts, indicators oscillators, etc. Charting has
proven to be reasonably accurate in forecasting future stock
movements.

Stocks travel in cycles that can and do form repetitious
patterns. These patterns are predictable and detectable by the
use of any number of charts, indicators and oscillators.

Although there are many, many forms and styles of technical
analysis, they all have several similarities. The one we want to
focus on is the technical “break-out.” A break-out is described
as a movement of the stock where its price trades quickly through
and beyond an obvious “technical resistance” or resistance point.

For a bullish breakout, this level is at the very top of its
present trading range. Once through that level, the stock is
considered to have “broken out” of its trading range and will now
often trade higher, and establish a new higher trading range.

The “break-out” is normally a rapid, large upward movement that
usually offers an outstanding potential return if identified
properly and acted upon in a timely fashion. However, if the
break-out fails, the stock could trade back down to the bottom of
the previous trading range.

If this were to happen, you would have incurred a large loss
because you would have bought at the upper end of the previous
trading range. As you can see the “break-out” scenario is an
opportunity that has large potential rewards but can on occasion,
have a large downside risk.

However, if you were to apply a protective put strategy with the
stock purchase, you can drastically limit your downside exposure.
For instance, say you were to buy the 65 strike put for $2.00.
If the stock trades up to $75.00, you would make $9.00 if done
naked but only make $7.00 if done with the protective put.

This difference is the cost of the put. This $2.00 investment is
more than worth it should the stock go down. If the break-out
turns out to be a “false” break-out and the stock reverses and
trades down, your 65 put will allow you to sell your stock out at
$65.00 minus the $2.00 you paid for the put. This limits your
loss to $3.00 instead of a potential $8.00 loss. This is a much
better risk/reward scenario.

Most professional traders, including day traders and swing
traders can reap huge rewards for the protective put strategy.
The reason is in how most traders attain profits and losses.
Normally, successful traders make a little money on a consistent
basis. They make a little bit day in and day out. But when it
comes to losses, they lose in large chunks. They spend a month
building up profits only to lose that money in one day usually in
one stock. If a trader could figure out how to avoid even a
handful of these large losses, his or her profitability would
soar. My answer is to start using the protective put when buying
on breakouts and when bottom fishing.

What Christmas Gifts Do People Actually Want?

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Before buying random gifts and hoping that they will be pleasing to the recipient, read this article and learn how to avoid aimless gift buying. It would be a great idea to get them a gift card and let them choose what they really want and then you can spend the rest of the day enjoying each others company.

year after year, Christmas continues to get more extravagant Christmas is time for picking up piles and piles of wrapping paper and trying to figure out how to fit gifts in cars, even though every year we swear that the next year we will be better prepared. It’s fun to receive gifts, especially when you’re a kid, but as adults, do we really need to go bonkers in the mall each year?

The obstacle occurs, because everyone has different tastes. According to theory, you increase the odds someone will be pleased when you buy a large amount of stuff for them. Do some research prior to choosing a person to date. Inquire of someone who is aware of what they desire. Ask the person a few probing questions throughout the year so when gift time comes you will have something to go on. Hopefully, this will keep you from buying them useless trinkets and gadgets. There isn’t anything wrong with a gift card when ideas elude you. You can make this personal in any number of ways. How about adding home made biscuits, or a card with a personal message that means something uniquely to them? The gift of getting to spend time with family and friends is way greater than any gift can give you.

A lot of people feel that gift cards are not personal, but of you think about it, you realize that giving a friend something he or she doesnt like or need is not personal either. Gift cards are a great back-up plan when research and questioning have failed to provide you with any ideas. More than often people really don’t know what they desire, or at least won’t admit to it. There are lots of ways to give pleasure to this group. Here is a great site for some personalize gift ideas for everyone.
