Procure Discount Rugby Gear on the World Wide Web

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Rugby as a sport has speedily become an activity that entails not only ability and power but also that of pace. As a result of this, players of this sport need good firmness & support in their rugby footwear. Lightweight performance rugby shoes are demanded by players to show excellent playing skill. Rugby boots are the most key piece of piece of equipment required by players in the sport of Rugby. Shoes might also be the most expensive piece of equipment. Find great offers on running gear online today.

Since Rugby is played all through winter and/or during dire weather, rugby boots must be built for both soft and drenched surfaces. Rugby footwear must also be developed to have improved grip which is extremely handy during acute actions. The footwear ought to provide exceptional grip while being comfy to ensure outstanding control of the rugby ball. Rugby tops must also be built for any weather condition imaginable and should be secure enough for use by the rugby players.

Rugby shoes are built for the variety of different ability levels. Various other things to dwell on when acquiring rugby shoes include the ground & weather conditions. You may find rugby footwear that suits your desires based on the specific position you play in the game, the ground surface of the pitch you will be playing on, the toe and height of boots and the of course the price tag.

Caring for rugby boots is somewhat straightforward. Take care to soak the shoes after each & every wear. The shoes ought to be dried out after each & every rugby game particularly after playing in dreadful weather like rain. Leather food might well be used on kangaroo & calf-skin leather in order to guarantee that the leather is flexible & soft. In addition, this will also minimize water retention in your rugby shoes.

Megaliths and Pole Flips

Monday, March 16th, 2009

The changes in the earth magnetic field away from the 7.8 cycle rhythm that it has been for a long time is something that may be a result of the things man has done to the Earth. It is more likely part of the cyclical nature of the sun’s effect on the Earth but we must keep an open mind. I used to think there was some possibility that the reason the Mammoths in the northern climes had buttercups inside their fast frozen mouths had to do with a pole shift of a physical nature. I do not think that is the case anymore. I present these thoughts for your careful consideration.

Faraday didn’t need to see his soul in order to know it existed, but he wanted the rest of the world to know it existed. He and his Sandemanian cohorts practiced a personal meditative relationship with God/Goddess/It/The Force, which is most appropriate in my humble opinion. The extent to which our brain wavelengths can evolve or be altered is a subject of much research at present. I hear that Hank Wesselmann who was a researcher on the team that discovered Lucy has a very different brain state that gurus and healers can not easily achieve or maintain as long as he does. Some people think we are about to evolve or adapt to the collective mind state and I surely hope it happens quickly. The Quaker or Shaker non-ritualistic approach is very much like the Sandemanians who most people will never learn about. They are social activists who value real knowledge and use love as a guiding force in their lives – other than ‘Tricky Dicky’ Nixon.

I think one of the carriers of ‘World Mind’ information is the Earth Energy Grid. Can I prove it? Can I weigh wisdom? Will we ever reach the point of being able to manifest a new paradigm if we insist we must see everything? I am a skeptic and I advocate questioning rather than using faith – but at some point we can decide on the higher probability and work with what can achieve results even if we do not fully understand it. The earth energy affects our genes and allows a certain feedback mechanism that can be useful. I will probably never fully grasp enough of these things to make a significant contribution to the science of soul, but I wish I had been born knowing what I know now. The books just weren’t available and the research is largely new. It is an exciting era and the opportunity to GROW has never been greater.

“Scientists have long known that certain minerals in molten rock, as they cool, become magnetized by the Earth’s magnetic field, and are aligned with the planet’s north and south magnetic poles. When the lava hardens, its magnetic field becomes permanent, and points north like a compass needle. A good compass needle can be locked in place with the turn of a screw. Likewise the hardened rock: unless the rock is moved or melted down, its magnetic field should point north forever.

One common kind of hardened lava is the black rock called basalt. Oddly enough, since the turn of the century, outcrops of basalt had been discovered here and there with their magnetic fields pointing in the wrong directions. Two Britishers, Patrick Blackett and S. Keith Runcorn, systematically testing basalt compass needles across North America and Europe found that rocks of different ages pointed off toward different spots on the horizon, like witnesses who disagree. To explain this, Blackett and Runcorn suggested at first that the poles, then that the rocks, and the continents they rest on, had wandered too.” (6)

Could we be so wise as to admit the ancients might have known how to place the megaliths in Neolithic times so that a form of computer self-powering macrochip was created? Magnetometer readings show the same wavelength or cycles thereof in the megaliths and the Great Pyramid. Could the Great Pyramid and its earlier smaller capstone model have been the CPU or central processing unit in league with an attuned priesthood? Was there ever a crustal shift? There is drift in the continental and tectonic movements as well as rising earth when the glaciers retreat that is going on to the present day. It takes thousands of years for the earth’s crust to rebound from miles of glacier ice on top of it.

“At first, the researchers assumed that these reversals would prove to have occurred regularly, every million years or so, regular as the ticks of a clock. And indeed, Cox recalls wryly, their first data seemed to fit this pattern. (‘I think that it’s always true that if you don’t have very much data, it will fit your theory.’) But then they began to find reversals that had lasted a mere 100,000 years. For a while thereafter they said the ticking is slightly irregular, but at last they had to acknowledge that it is totally irregular, random. ‘For me, this was a very frustrating experience,’ Cox says. ‘Scientists always like to find some very simple, regular pattern in nature. You’re always looking for order. And the odd kind of order we found was almost perfect disorder.’ Two decades ago, Allan Cox and Brent Dalrymple proved that the Earth’s magnetic field can flip-flop, its north and south magnetic poles suddenly reversing. This has happened nine times in the past four million years, and it may happen again quite soon. The discovery led to a momentous change in the way we view the Earth….

What is more, if the sea floor has spread, the oceans must have grown, the continents must have moved. Wegener, it seemed was right too. Virtually overnight, confirmed ‘fixists’ became ‘mobilists’ and ‘drifters’. Wegener’s theory had been tooted off the stage because he could not explain what forces move the continents. By the late 1960s, it was ’still’ unclear what propelled all this motion, but the evidence for the motion itself was inescapable. New converts cited what is sometimes called Ayer’s law: ‘What ‘has’ happened, ‘can’ happen.’ Earth scientists old and young had to adapt themselves to Wegener’s vision of a restless and driven globe.” (7)

Jim Bowles has a mathematical formula for rotational bending that might explain some of the ways that the Earth Energy Grid alters the inertia or gravity forces which would keep things stationary. There is a lot left to learn about all these things. Unfortunately Jim is proud of his formula and thinks it supports Hapgood and the sudden crustal shift theory. The astrological insights to how Earth, Moon, Sun and Water affects us from the moment of conception have a lot more validity than most modern academics will allow but not as much as scholars thought a couple of centuries ago perhaps.

Computer Certification: Four Tips For Maximum Performance During The Exam

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

There are plenty of articles out there about how to prepare for a computer certification exam. However, there are also things you can do to increase your chances of success on exam day during the most important part of the entire process — the time that you’re actually taking the test.

I’ve taken many a certification exam over the years, and helped many others prep for theirs. Here are the five things you must do on exam day to maximize your efforts.

1. Show up on time. Yeah, I know everyone says that. The testing center wants you there 30 minutes early. So why do so many candidates show up late, or in a rush? If you have a morning exam appointment, take the traffic into account. If it’s a part of town you don’t normally drive in during rush hour, you might be surprised at how much traffic you have to go through. Plan ahead.

2. Use the headphones. Most candidates in the room with you understand that they should be quiet. Sadly, not all of them do. Smacking gum, mumbling to themselves (loud enough for you to hear, though), and other little noises can really get on your nerves in what is already a pressure situation. In one particular testing center I use, the door to the testing room has one setting: “Slam”.

Luckily, that center also has a headset hanging at every testing station. Call ahead to see if yours does. Some centers have them but don’t leave them at the testing stations. Wearing headphones during the exam is a great way to increase your powers of concentration. They allow you to block out all noise and annoyances, and do what you came to do — pass the exam.

3. Prepare for the “WHAT??” question. No matter how well-prepared you are, there’s going to be one question on any exam that just stuns you. It might be off-topic, in your opinion. It may be a question that would take 20 of your remaining 25 minutes to answer. It might be a question that you don’t even know how to begin answering. Whatever the reason, it’s the question that has you thinking, “WHAT??” I have talked with candidates who got to such a question and were obviously so thrown off that they didn’t do well on any of the remaining questions, either.

There is only one thing to do in this situation: shrug it off. Compare yourself to a major-league pitcher. If he gives up a home run, he can’t dwell on it. He’s got to face another batter. Cornerbacks in football face the same problem. If they give up a long TD pass, they can’t spend the next 20 minutes thinking about it. They have to shrug it off and be ready for the next play.

Don’t worry about getting a perfect score on the exam. Your concern is passing. If you get a question that seems ridiculous, unsolvable, or out of place, forget about it. It’s done. Move on to the next question and nail it.

4. Finish with a flourish. Ten questions from the end of your exam, take a 15-to-30 second break. You can’t walk around the testing room, but you can stand and stretch. By this point in the exam, candidates tend to be a little mentally tired. Maybe you’re still thinking about the “WHAT??” question. Don’t worry about the questions you’ve already answered — they’re done. Take a deep breath, remember why you’re there — to pass this exam — and sit back down and nail the last ten questions to the wall.

Before you know it, your passing score appears on the screen!

Becoming a Para Planner

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Who would have figured that becoming a financial planner could be easy? Having a title “Financial Planner” sounds great and would be excellent to boost your career. A couple of years ago, I was just a store attendant. Now I’m a Para Planner. Thanks to my uncle, he has inspired me to pursue this career. I am living proof of that since he was the one who suggested that the financial service industry is an excellent option for my career. Currently, I am being paid more than what I was making when I was still a store attendant. As I look at my peers, I can also predict that I have more potential in succeeding in my career and making more money by being a financial planner then they would have.
It’s really easy to be a financial planner. All that you need to do is obtain a Diploma of Financial Planning and get the RG146 compliance. This RG 146 is a prerequisite needed by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission , also known as ASIC, before you would be considered competent in giving financial advice to your clients. With the diploma, you are now considered a reliable and trusted financial adviser.

Catch Up With A Past Classmate

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

After going to school with your classmates for four or even twelve years, it’s hard to imagine ever losing touch. Once you graduate though and realize that everyone is going off to their own schools, jobs or travels it becomes heartbreakingly clear that staying close will be hard. Losing contact with your classmates is unbelievably easy to do even when by accident. It’s taken most of my friends about ten years to figure out that they left so many people behind.

The thing that’s said most about this is not to worry. Frankly, growing apart is just another one of those many facts of life that like to sneak up on us. The good news is that growing apart from one person usually happens because you’re growing closer to another. The bad news is that often brings with it feelings of guilt. In the first stages of our lives when we go from one education to the next we end up leaving behind old classmates and welcoming in new ones over and over again.

At first this may all sound quite trivial. But when you think about it you’ll see that it is a rite of passage engrained in our culture. All of our lives are built upon memories of friends and enemies that have grown out of the schoolyard and the classrooms.

There’s the yearbook no one wants to graduate without. They sit on bookshelves around the world waiting for people who want to revisit the past. It’s a favorite tool for playing the six degrees of separation with new friends.

Think of the stress so many go through when facing their high school reunions. It’s written about, joked about and portrayed on almost every sitcom aired in the last twenty years. This is a time where we want to impress our former classmates, show off if we can and forgive each other for years of absence in one another’s lives.

Then there is the vast success of websites like the classmates dot com site. This type of site thrives off of nothing but people who want to reconnect with whoever they’ve lost from school. It answers to the curiosity of ‘what happened too,’ and ‘where are they now.’ It fills a gap the nostalgia so many of us seem to carry around.

My friends have recently got in touch with old classmates as a form of business networking. They needed a job done and remembered someone from back in the day who would be perfect for the task. When people fail at such reconnection there is at least a time where conversation always leads to “a went to school with a guy who could…”

The days of this fact of life’s existence may be numbered though. Because of the growing popularity of websites that track your classmates, the mystery of their lives disappears. Then internet chat programs like Messenger actually help in making the world smaller. These days saying goodbye to parting friends only lasts until they log on that night. For most of us this is a great tool to get back together with people; but for the new generation it may actually keep the friendly classmates of the world from ever drifting apart.

Probiotics and Friendly Flora

Monday, March 9th, 2009

You Need Probiotics For Better Digestion and Overall Health

Inside your body there are thousands, even millions of living organisms. They make up two pounds of your body weight. Don’t let this scare you – not all bacteria are bad.

There are harmful bacteria and helpful bacteria. The hard-working, friendly bacteria produce a variety of substances than can prevent cancerous tumors, deactivate viruses, produce natural antibodies, reduce cholesterol and enhance the immune system.

They even produce and distribute vitamins (such as the B-complex) among your organs. One particular strain of bacteria called lactobacillus salivarius produces acidophin, an antibiotic that helps protect against harmful bacteria.

What’s the significance of all this? If you’ve even taken traditional medicine, you know that it doesn’t always do what it’s supposed to. Modern medicine that is designed to kill bacteria does exactly that – it kills bacteria, regardless of whether it is the helpful or the harmful kind. Medicine like that can actually poison your body by having a negative influence on the helpful bacteria.

The exciting news is that you can take probiotics to supplement the friendly bacteria your body already produces. Having the right amount of probiotics in your body to work in conjunction with enzymes is essential for good health.

While many agree on the efficacy of friendly bacteria, many are not aware that totally stable cultures that are strong enough to survive in the acidic environment of the stomach are the only ones that allow 100% of the good bacteria to remain alive and active in your system.

This is important, because many probiotic supplements are unable to pass through the stomach for colonization in the small intestine, where they have tremendous benefit.

Also, many probiotic supplements actually mutate in their bottles before they even reach the consumer. It’s imperative that the life-force energy in the bacterial colonies is alive and well because dead bacteria release endotoxins inside the body that the liver is forced to filter from the bloodstream.

Many probiotic supplements use freeze-drying and high pressure to form hard tablets that, when ingested by the consumer, contain dead, useless bacteria toxic to the system.

Probiotics, often referred to as the
“good bacteria” in your body, play a vital
role in your good health:

1.) Probiotics create natural antibiotics that destroy harmful bacteria. Phenomenal for food poisoning!

2.) Probiotics change the levels of acidity in various parts of the body, depriving harmful bacteria of nutrients needed to survive.

3.) Probiotics create their own antibiotic substances, which kill harmful bacteria, viruses, and yeasts.

4.) Probiotics produce enzymes to break down waste in the colon for elimination and even help strengthen the immune system.

5.) Probiotics have been shown to help reduce high cholesterol levels and help recycle the female hormone estrogen, which reduces the likelihood of menopausal symptoms and osteoporosis.

Your body cannot function properly without probiotics. However, due to diet and environmental toxicity, most people do not have adequate colonies of friendly flora in their intestinal tract, which leads to a host of health problems.

Where do you come into contact with bad bacteria? Airplanes, cars, hospitals, malls, movie theaters, public rest rooms – anywhere there are people you will find bad bacteria.

Any inorganic food you eat is packed with antibiotics, which destroy the good bacteria in your intestinal tract. More than ever, people need to replenish their friendly flora!

Backup Software- Don’t Buy It!

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Computer Backup- Forget About It!

Backup Software is for the birds! Computer Backup is too hard, too much trouble and a pain in the butt. Let’s just forget about it.

Backup Software is touted as the savior of your computer’s critical business and personal files. They claim that all computer hard drives (where our files are stored) eventually will have a 100% failure rate. They try to tell us that the failure of our hard drives is just a matter of WHEN, not IF.

Do your backups they shout!

Poppycock!

BACKUP SOFTWARE- LET’S GET REAL

You and I know the real story. The real story is that new computers are so well made that they almost never fail, right?

Therefore, we don’t need to worry about buying backup software and setting up a computer backup system, do we? It would just be a waste time– for sure!

After all we know that all the press about hard drive failures, natural disasters and terrorist attacks is just a conspiracy by the backup software companies to get us to buy their products.

Personally I never had a hard drive failure (that I recall). If my computer stops working for whatever reason, that’s life.

Therefore, I ignore these software backup companies that try to push their backup software products on the unsuspecting public even though they make data and file restorations easy. I don’t give them the time of day.

Therefore as you see, I don’t need backup software, do you? Of course not.

BACKUP SOFTWARE- STARTING OVER WITHOUT IT IS EASY

In the unlikely event that I got a virus or a bunch of spyware on my computers I’ll just bite the bullet and move on. After all, if I lost all my data to a virus, then so what? Who needs backup software?

Heck, I’d just buy a new computer and begin again and I’d still wouldn’t need backup software because it’s just too much hassle.

If ALL my business data was lost due to a hard drive crash or virus corruption then I’d just start my business over. No big deal. It’s not that hard, right? Using backup software is just a pain.

BACKUP SOFTWARE FOOLISHNESS

So by now we’re all agreed that using backup software for computer backup is just for the foolish, right? Right.

Who would want to use backup software that automatically and easily backs up EVERYTHING on your computer hard drive to a DVD Rewriteable disk or USB external hard drive? That would mean you could easily recover from any computer disaster. That makes too much sense and is far too logical.

They claim that backup software is a virtual computer insurance policy against fire, flood, theft, earthquake, hurricanes, tornados and terrorist attacks.

Balderdash!

Ridiculous.

Hey, the businesses who survived Hurricane Katrina didn’t need backup software did they? OK, OK I admit a lot of businesses without backup software and off site backup lost EVERYTHING and now they cannot recover their data and reconstitute their business. But that’s life. Now these businesses and their employees can now move on to something new. How exciting!

Look, life without backup software is just so much more interesting.

By the way, did I tell you how much I enjoy playing Russian Roulette?

Did I neglect to mention my brief stay (it was really was only a few days) at the mental hospital? Ahh, that’s ancient history. Let’s get back to the present.

BACKUP SOFTWARE- THE PRESENT DAY

Want to hear something silly? My friend Ben down in New Orleans owned an insurance company. It made a very good living for him and his family. He didn’t believe in backup software either. All his computers were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Ben just laughed and said, “No problem, this disaster gives me the chance to write the Great American Novel that I’ve always dreamed of writing”.

What about his 10 employees and his thousands of customers he was asked? Ben said, “Heck, things always work out for the best don’t they?”

What about the income from the business that supported his family he was asked? Ben said, “Oh, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) told me they would take care of us and not to worry.”

See, Ben is all set and is none the worse for wear even though he didn’t have backup software.

BACKUP SOFTWARE LESSONS

So boys and girls what have we learned about this backup software thing?

* If we don’t have backup software, so what, it just makes life after a hard drive crash more interesting and fun.

* After a natural disaster that destroys your computers, FEMA will make it OK.

* All the hubbub about backup software is just a bunch of advertising hype to sell product.

* Just because you like to play Russian Roulette, you aren’t really crazy.

FINALLY- BACKUP SOFTWARE FOLLYIES

I know another guy, Carl Jordan, who is crazier than I am. Carl and the rest of the loonies at Tweak All Consultants (www.tweakspeed.com) actually believe backup software can save your bacon.

In my own strange way I try to be fair and balanced. Therefore
if you disagree with me check out Carl’s review of backup software at Backup Software

Now, where’s my medication? My meds really smooth me out. They also help me forget about rational things like computer backup and backup software.

Jack Back has been in the computer business since 1983 as an IT executive and working computer consultant company owner. He has helped many clients after a computer crash who had no computer backup. Hurry to get your FREE REVIEW of backup software that saves your irreplaceable computer data from loss, damage or destruction at the Backup Software website.

Celestial Phenomena for 2006: Equinoxes and Solstices

Monday, March 9th, 2009

During the course of 2006, a number of celestial phenomena such as equinoxes, solstices, eclipses, meteor showers and planets will be visible, most with the naked eye. Depending on where you live, you can mark your calendar and plan on taking advantage of some of these visible celestial phenomena, local weather conditions permitting. In this article, part 1 of a three-part series, upcoming equinoxes and solstices in 2006 will be discussed.

Equinox

Twice each year the position of the sun as it crosses the Earth’s equator making day and night of equal length in all parts of the earth. These two dates are known as Vernal and Autumnal Equinox. Ancient Greek astronomer Hipparchus is credited with calculation of the data used t predict the position of celestial elements that determine the equinoxes, derived from the Latin words for “equal night”. Many festivals and celebrations worldwide are based on the occurrences of the equinoxes.

Vernal Equinox or spring equinox will occur on March 20, 2006 and marks the beginning of the spring season in the northern hemisphere. The Memorial Celebration of Jesus Christ’s Passover meal with his 12 apostles occurs after sundown on the evening of the first full moon after the Vernal equinox each year (Nissan 14).

Autumn Equinox will occur on September 22, 2006 and marks the beginning of the fall season in the northern hemisphere. The Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs just before the autumn equinox. Harvest Moon phenomena occur in the spring south of the equator. Harvest moon phenomena include several evenings of moon risings close to the time of sunset with brilliant moonlight that can last nearly all night during cloudless conditions. The full moon after the Harvest moon is called the Hunter’s Moon.

In 1964, American astronomer Gerald S. Hawkins reported that the prehistoric ritual monolithic monument Stonehenge, located in England, could have been used to predict the Vernal and Autumnal equinoxes, summer and winter solstices, and eclipses of both the sun and moon during the period of around 1500 B.C. when the Stonehenge complex was believed to be in use.

Halfway between the equinoxes are the summer and winter solstices.

Solstice

Solstice is the time of the year when the noon sun appears farthest north or south in the sky. It marks the beginning of the summer or winter season in the northern hemisphere. The tropic of Cancer lies 2327′ north of the equator and is the northern solstice, that is, the northernmost point where the sun appears directly overhead at least one day a year.
The Arctic Circle, at latitude 6630′ N, marks the southern limit of the area in which the sun does not rise on the winter solstice or set on the summer solstice. Periods of continuous day or night increase from one day at the Arctic Circle to six months at the North Pole. The Antarctic Circle, at latitude 6630′ S, marks the northern limit of the area in which the sun does not rise on the summer solstice or set on the winter solstice. Periods of continuous night or day increase from one day at the Antarctic Circle to six months at the South Pole.

Midsummer Eve also known as St. John’s Eve, is celebrated throughout Europe at the time of the summer solstice. These celebrations are believed to date back to Teutonic pagan festivals and fertility rites associated with agriculture at the time of the summer solstice.

This year Summer Solstice will occur on June 21, 2006 and Winter Solstice will occur on December 21, 2006.

Be sure to mark your calendar for upcoming celestial phenomena which will possibly be visible in your area this year. Part 2 of this series will talk about upcoming full or partial solar and lunar eclipses. Part 3 will be concerned with the planets and planetary phenomena. Until then, look to the skies.

Imaginary Friends – A Problem Solving Technique

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Why imaginary friends? Because they may be smarter than you real friends. Well, at least they may give you better, more creative solutions to your problems.

If you are like most people, your thinking is often best when you’re interacting with a friend. You feed off of each other’s ideas and help each other to clarify things. But what about times when you’re alone, or you have no one you wish to share your ideas with? How do you stimulate creative thought and find elegant solutions to your problems? Try talking to Albert Einstein.

Of course, you’ll probably want to talk to Andrew Carnegie or Lee Iacocca if your problem has to do with making a factory more productive. Spiritual problems might be better discussed with the Dalai Lama. The point is to have a conversation in your head with an expert, or a historical personality, or any imaginary friend who can help with your particular problem. Why would you want to do this?

Imaginary Friends Give You Answers

You have a powerful imagination, whether you know it or not. However, what you may not have, is a powerful way to use it. This is what you get with imaginary friends and advisors. A conversation in your head is a way to access the creative power of your mind. You’ll be surprised how often your imaginary Einstein comes up with an interesting idea, or asks you a question that produces something useful.

It is best to use someone who you respect and/or know something about. That way you can more easily imagine what they might say. It could be a fictional character, and in fact, this may be even better. Start by explaining the situation to this person, and then listen to what they have to say.

You may remember those “WWJD” pins and stickers. The WWJD stands for “What Would Jesus Do?” Kids wore the pins (still do, I believe) as a source of guidance. Whether or not you are a Christian, you can understand how in a time of confusion, a simple question like this can immediately clarify the situation and allow for a right decision.

Consider this for a moment. The information necessary to make a right decision is there in a young man’s head already, and yet there is confusion. Then, just imagining what Jesus would do or say is all it takes to “see” the answer.

With a simple conversation in your mind, you can ask for help with personal, business, moral and any other problems. It’s a powerful technique for problem solving, and for drawing on the power of your unconscious mind. Why not start talking (in your head please) with your imaginary friends?

Calcium Lactate Helps Me Keep My Bones Strong

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

I have always had a problem with milk. Most people get the majority of their calcium from cows’ milk but I never really liked the taste. I have had a problem using cow’s milk to obtain calcium in my diet as far back in time as my memories go. Very often when I was young I would experience a sick feeling in my stomach after eating breakfast. This went on for quite a while, without knowing what caused the problem. Feeling sick and not wanting to eat during those times, was starting to effect my growth development. I was a very picky eater, and a lot of the time did not feel like eating. Feeling concerned, my mother took me to see doctor about my sick stomach, and eating problem. The doctor suggested that I might have an intolerance to cows’ milk. He thought that I might be missing the enzymes needed to properly digest milk. There was also a connection with, consuming milk and any foods sweetened with sugar. On days when I had milk and anything with sugar in it, such as at breakfast, cereal milk and sugar always made my stomach feel sick. Drinking a glass of milk with toast and jam, or syrup, also made me feel sick to my stomach.

The doctor’s suggestion was to try and experiment. Leave out milk from my diet entirely, for a time, and replace it with the use of cheddar cheese. This would provide a source of calcium, as all growing children need this element, for healthy, strong, growing bones. So instead of cereal, I had a cheese omelette, fried potatoes, and toast for breakfast. He also suggested taking a calcium lactate supplement pill to be sure I was receiving enough of that mineral. Calcium lactate is much the same substance found in baking powder used in pastries. To make calcium lactate, calcium carbonate is exposed to lactic acid. Then you get a white crystal like salt. This is made into pills. Although these large pills are not fun to take, it still beats drinking milk that you hate the taste of, and then becoming sick to your stomach afterwards.

The doctor was correct. I started feeling better shortly after going on the new diet. My appetite improved and the sick stomach episodes disappeared. To this day I am careful using milk.

Since a person afflicted with this problem is missing a key substance other people normally possess, unless you can replace what you are missing, the condition will not go away on its own. One good thing is that I am not, ultra sensitive to milk. I can have an occasional milkshake or sweet cereal with milk. The condition takes time to build up, to the point where I would feel sick to my stomach. I just can’t make a regular practice of using liquid milk in my diet. I still eat cheese regularly in my diet. Occasionally I take calcium lactate to be sure that my calcium intake is not too low. Mostly I never have to worry about the problem, that made me so miserable as a child.
