Recession is still taking Toll on Leeds Office Development

It was in 2003 that Leeds city centre was scheduled to be a place buzzing with economic activity. However, even after the passage of six years since then, not much has changed for the residents of the area.

Had things worked according to the plans, there would have been as many as 3,000 new homes near an upcoming business district, with quality desk space and a number of floors, which would have resulted in energizing the local economy.

However, the plans could not be executed as they had been envisaged, so much so that some of the business development zones, including north of the railway line and the south of Wellington Street, have been facing persistent problems from day one. Further, some projects like Lumiere had to be stalled for lack of funds, while those like the Green Bank development were discarded by the developers without any proper explanation for the same.

A mere two out of seven projects in the area have reached completion. It should also be mentioned that where some of the projects were discarded for no apparent reasons at all, some projects had to be stalled because of the economic downturn.

The only reason for which these two projects were completed was that they had a very robust beginning and they were completed before the recession set in.
