The Benzene Attack

Okay so here’s the deal about benzene. If you are the type who is environmental conscious or the kind who practically reads everything that’s listed in the ingredients label of any product before buying it, you know that it is most commonly found in products such as cleaners, detergents, lubricants, and drugs? Here’s a question for you: Do you also know that there’s a connection between benzene and AML? You should since there is a strong link between these two.

Just to increase your knowledge power, AML actually stands for Acute Myelogenous (or Myeloid) Leukemia. It is a form of cancer that attacks white blood cells and has these manifestations in its signs and symptoms list:

• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Increased susceptibility to infection
• Bleeding
• Anemia
• Shortness of Breath
• And oh, in case you are wondering, yes, this illness can kill.

The relationship between benzene and AML (as well as CML and aplastic anemia) is a well-known fact amongst the people in the world of chemistry and related industries. So, if benzene causes AML, why is it still in use? Why is the general public not informed about it?

The answer lies in its usability and the fact that it comes a bit cheaper compared to other chemicals, especially where the cleaning part is concerned. Benzene has been used as cleaners for atv including rhino rollover. You see, benzene is primarily a cleaner and this is why, one of the major culprits of its usage is the oil companies. They use benzene for a variety of reasons particularly as metal degreaser as well as additive to gasoline and petroleum. In so doing, they are exposing their employees to the hazardous product.

Supposedly, the use of benzene is regulated by officials, making sure that the number of people exposed to it is limited. But what do company owners do? They mislead their employees and say that benzene causing AML is just a myth. They say that hey, if it kills, we would’ve been dead by now? We are exposed to benzene everyday, but why are we still here? Aren’t we living proof that it is harmless enough to work with? They say anything just to keep the employees from asking.

What you should ask by now is how can they develop AML when they are not directly exposed to it? Ladies and gentlemen, company owners don’t care if many, if not all, of their employees are exposed to it. As long as they are generating money out of it, they will continue doing it. Never mind the benzene and AML love relationship. Never mind the fact that the chemical kills. Most of all, never mind the people’s lives; as long as they are making money, everything’s good.
